REINDEER GAMES

WE READ ABOUT REINDEER. THE CLASS TALKED ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN, HAVE, AND ARE.

WE MADE REINDEER IN THE CLASSROOM. THE KIDS CUT OUT AND GLUED THEIR CRAFT TOGETHER.

  
THE SECOND GRADE CLASS HAD TO PICK IF THEY WOULD RATHER BE A REINDEER OR AN ELF. MY STUDENT CHOSE A REINDEER. I PRINTED OFF 8 REASONS WHY AND HE CHOSE THREE OF THEM.
(DON’T MIND THE FACT THAT OUR REINDEER RESEMBLES MAX!) 

WE MADE REINDEER HAND PRINTS AS PARENT AND TEACHER GIFTS.

HERE IS THE ORNAMENT MY MOM GAVE ME FOR CHRISTMAS!


GINGERBREAD EXPERIMENT

OUR CURRICULUM- UNIQUE LEARNING SYSTEM- HAD A GINGERBREAD EXPERIMENT.
WE MADE GINGERBREAD COOKIES. WE BROKE THEM INTO PIECES AND PUT THEM THREE LIQUIDS- MILK, WATER, AND HOT CHOCOLATE. AS THEY DISSOLVED WE TALKED ABOUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE COOKIE AND HOW FAST IT WAS CHANGING.

WE PUT HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS ON THE SMARTBOARD FOR THE KIDS. THEY LOVED IT! 

OUR PT AND OT WORKED TOGETHER TO POSITION KIDS WHILE THEY WORKED HOLDING A PAINT DOBBER TO COMPLETE HOLIDAY WORKSHEETS.

NORA HAD LOTS OF FUN COLORING LIGHT BULBS. 

HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD

A LITTLE ELF ON THE SHELF ACTION IN OUR CLASSROOM. SOME DAYS I THINK THE LADIES IN MY ROOM WERE MORE EXCITED THEN THE KIDS!

FOR COMMUNITY BUILDING WE WROTE ABOUT HOW WE CAN BRING KINDNESS TO THE WORLD.

OUR CURRICULUM (UNIQUE LEARNING SYSTEM) CELEBRATED HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD IN DECEMBER.

WE DISCUSSED KEY WORDS OF HANUKKAH AND HOW THE HOLIDAY IS CELEBRATED.

WE ALSO LABELLED THE MENORAH.

THE KIDS MADE A DREIDEL CRAFT BY USING PAINT AND MARBLES. THEY CHOSE THREE COLORS TO DECORATE.

WE READ ABOUT KWANZAA AND DISCUSSED WITH THE KIDS HOW IT IS CELEBRATED.

 WE LABELLED THE KINARA.

 THE KIDS MADE A CRAFT OF THE SEVEN PRINCIPALS OF KAWANZAA.

THE KIDS LOVE FILD FOLDERS, WE HAVE THEM FOR EVERY MONTH.

WE LABELLED HOW WE WOULD GET SANTA OUT OF A CHIMNEY. THE KIDS DREW CHOICES, THEY ACTUALLY WERE PRETTY CLOSE TO THEIR PERSONALITIES!

WE DISCUSSED CHRISTMAS AND HOW IT IS CELEBRATED.

AFTER READING ABOUT LAS POSADAS, WE TALKED ABOUT IMPORTANT WORDS IN RELATION TO THE HOLIDAY. WE ALSO USED A BUBBLE MAP.










GIVING THANKS

 OUR SCHOOL HAS A THANKSGIVING MEAL FOR THE STUDENTS THE WEEK BEFORE THANKSGIVING BREAK, THE KIDS LOVED IT!

AFTER READING BOOKS ABOUT TURKEYS, THE KIDS LABELLED A TURKEY.

WE MADE TURKEY CRAFTS. THE KIDS AT SCHOOL CUT OUT THE PIECES AND PUT TOGETHER THEIR TURKEY.

WE READ OUR SCHOLASTIC ABOUT WAMPANOAG’S VS PILGRIM’S AND THEIR DIFFERENCES/SIMILARITIES OF THEIR LIVES.
THEY HAD A GREAT VIDEO THAT PAIRED WITH THE UNIT.

THE KIDS READ A STORY ABOUT THE MAYFLOWER AND DISCUSSED DISCRIBING WORDS ABOUT THE SHIP AND ITS VOYAGE.

WE TOOK A SURVEY OF EVERYONE’S FAVORITE THANKSGIVING FOOD. (DIDN’T GET A PICTURE OF THE FINISHED PRODUCT)

THE KIDS MADE PUMPKIN PIE. WE PUT THE INGREDIENTS INTO A BLENDER AND THEY WERE ABLE TO HIT THE SWITCH TO MIX IT ALL TOGETHER.

THE KIDS ATE THEIR FINISHED PRODUCT FOR SNACK.





HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT THANKSGIVING BREAK AND WE ABLE TO SPEND IT WITH PEOPLE YOU LOVE. WE HAVE A TRADITION OF GOING TO THE WILD GAME THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING!
