Indian Corn Prints
We took corncobs and rolled them in paint and had the boys push our hands to make the corn prints. We let the boys decide which color they wanted to put on their paper.
Although this isn’t the same paper template we used this is the closest I could find.
Sensory Corn
We used the extra corncobs
and peeled off the corn to put in a bin for sensory use. It actually lasted
about five minutes each kid before they attempted to put it in their mouth or
throw it!
Election Day
We read many books about Election Day but we
based our weekly write on Duck for President. We also went around and
took a vote about the weather to find use the information to tally and find the
winner. We also had the boy’s
vote on who they thought should be president after reading the book.
Here are some books for
teaching students about elections: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/67342956903626965/
Celebrating Our Heroes
Our weekly write was based
on Veteran’s Day.
November Books
I try to add to my book
collection as much as possible but sometime we are lacking in certain
departments. I’m so thankful to be in an elementary school that has books that
are a level for my students.
Veteran’s Day Craft
We have made this craft the past three years and
my students have loved it every time. We gave the boys options to say why they
were thankful to veterans. This would be a great opportunity to send to
veterans or current soldiers.
If you love this craft as
much as I do you can find it here: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/67342956902438505/
The coloring sheet we did
is FREE, you can find it here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/American-Heroes-for-Little-LearnersFreebie-869368
