Our Creepy Crawly Classroom

Tissue Paper Candy Corn
After reading a few Halloween books that involved candy corn, we made these using a candy corn template and different colored tissue paper. We let the boys decide which color they wanted to put in each section.

This is one of the books we read: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/67342956903053415/
(in previous years we have used this book with math units during October and have had our own guestimation of candy corn)

Hanging Bats

I drew a bat onto black paper with a white crayon. We had the boys cut out the bats and color them with metallic crayons to get a fun effect. The boys glued on the eyes and we hung them in the hallway.
I got the idea here:

Kool-aid Pumpkins
After reading books about pumpkins, we made textured pumpkins using spray starch and kool-aid. We used this tracing template: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/516154807267299110/
I found the idea to make these here:

One of our favorite pumpkin books is Big Pumpkin and it is read online here: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/67342956903052779/

We also loved reading A Halloween Scare in Minnesota!

Five Little Pumpkins Craft
To continue the pumpkin theme we read the book, sang this poem, and made this craft.
You can find it here:

Frankenstein Craft
We have made these in my class the past few years and have loved them every time!
You can find them here:

Spider Web Craft
Our OT made these with the boys. She put the black paper in a pie tin to keep the marbles from falling out.
If you like them you can find them here:

Halloween Party

We celebrated by trying on different costumes. I had a student who would throw off everything we tried to put on him until we put a mirror in from of him while we put it on and he wouldn’t take it off! (Costumes from the dollar store)

We also played Halloween bowling. I got this set at Target a few years ago but I do believe that they still had it this year!

My mentor and I are equally obsessed with Halloween so I surprised her with this shirt and we by chance wore it on the same day the week of Halloween!!!
